Grades 8–9; 2 lessons , Prepared by: Dandoulakis Dimitrios |
LEARNING TASK
Working in groups, students will investigate factors contributing to climate change, analyze real-world data about carbon emissions, and design a simple climate-action proposal that could be implemented in their school or community.
GOALS ACCORDING TO THE GENERAL CURRICULUM
General competences
- Learning to learn: Students plan their work, evaluate their progress, and use information sources responsibly.
- Cognitive: They select and apply research methods (data collection, observation, evaluation).
- Social: They collaborate constructively in groups, listen actively, and contribute to shared goals.
- Personal: They act responsibly, reflect on the impact of human activity on the environment, and take initiative for positive change.
Subject competences
- Understand the basic causes and effects of climate change using scientific evidence.
- Analyze and compare data (graphs, tables, maps) on global and local environmental indicators.
- Formulate arguments and express justified opinions about environmental issues.
- Connect human activity with environmental impacts and propose realistic solutions.
- Assess the advantages and challenges of individual and community-level climate actions.
Integration with other subjects
Geography, Mathematics, science, Language, Ethics/Civics.
MATERIALS / EQUIPMENT
Printed or digital CO₂ emission graphs, internet access or handouts, paper sheets, markers, sticky notes, carbon-footprint worksheet, short video (optional).

Climate change refers to long-term shifts caused mainly by human activities. Key concepts: greenhouse gases, CO₂, methane, climate action strategies.
APPENDIX 2 – Work Procedure
- Students review graphs.
2. Extract key information.
3. Create poster or a presendetion.
4. Propose action.
APPENDIX 3 – Assessment Criteria
Teamwork (3 point), accuracy of data table/poster (4 points), participation (3 point).
